2019/20 Committee Meetings & Events Schedule Now Available!

The partnership is known as an organization that ‘rolls up its sleeves’ and gets to work for the entire PHX East Valley region.  With that, we are excited to distribute the 2019-2020 Meeting Schedule to our member organizations. This year we have made a few changes to our overall committee structure and we look forward to better serving our members .

  1. Each committee will meet several times per year, unless noted otherwise. This will allow for more in depth agenda topics on various issues happening throughout the region.
  2. The Aviation & Aerospace Committee combined with the  Economic Development Committee will still meet from September to March on various regional Aviation and Economic Development issues. There will be two meetings with a main focus of Aviation/Aerospace and two with a main focus of Economic Development. However, all meetings will highlight the overall growth and development of our region and the assets that make strategic growth possible. Those who are currently serving on either committee will be automatically added to the full distribution list to receive meeting date notifications and agendas. Should you be interested in joining this committee, please let us know!

We encourage ALL members to actively participate in at least one committee that appeals to their individual interests or expertise.

Economic Forum Celebrates Innovation, Leadership on December 21st

East Valley Partnership’s premiere annual event, the PHX East Valley Economic Forum, will feature regional discussion on innovation and leadership by bringing together civic, education, business and other community leaders to discuss issues important to the future of our state and recognize the lifetime achievement of selected individuals.

On Wednesday, December 21, 2016, this year’s event will feature ASU President Dr. Michael Crow as keynote speaker. Under Crow’s leadership, ASU has established more than a dozen new transdisciplinary schools and large-scale research initiatives. During his tenure, the university has also nearly quadrupled research expenditures, completed and unprecedented infrastructure expansion and was recently named – for the second time in two years – the nation’s most innovative school by U.S. News and World Report.

Preceding the keynote speeches, the distinguished ‘Excel Awards’ will be presented to this year’s awardees. These leadership awards are bestowed upon the best and brightest leaders in the East Valley communities. The Dwight Patterson Lifetime Achievement Award and the Kerry Dunne Sustaining Leadership Award will be presented to Richard Morrison and Cox Communications, respectively. Morrison is a past EVP Board Chair and long-standing community leader whose work in water law and agribusiness has positively impacted the region for decades. Cox Communications is a long-time supporter of many PHX East Valley initiatives, and a business with a passion for serving the communities where they operate and has given unparalleled financial support and to a number of causes in our region.

The East Valley Partnership will debut the 2017 PHX East Valley Economic Profile at the event, in collaboration with Salt River Project and Wells Fargo. The profile is a unique tool that showcases demographics and workforce information about business, education and communities in the PHX East Valley. The eight-page brochure is used by Partnership members as well as other businesses in the community and this year’s version will feature a fold-out regional asset map – a useful publication for both visitors and residents alike.

The 2016 PHX East Valley Economic Forum will be held at the Tempe Mission Palms hotel located at 60 E 5th Street in Tempe on Wednesday, December 21, 2016. Event check-in will begin at 11:15 AM, with the program and luncheon starting at 12 noon. The program is anticipated to last until 1:15 PM.

ExporTech, a nationally recognized program proven to help small- and mid-sized companies boost their exports, is coming to Chandler for the first time this fall. The program, which begins Friday, Aug. 5, is delivered by the Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA) RevAZ Manufacturing Extension Partnership program, along with national partners. The City of Chandler Economic Development Division is co-sponsoring this Fall 2016 program.

“The City of Chandler understands that international trade is a major driver of economic prosperity,” Mayor Jay Tibshraeny said. “Our goal for this training program is to accelerate local export growth by providing companies with access to the knowledge, services and expertise necessary to compete in the global marketplace.”

Representatives from up to eight participating companies will attend three full-day sessions (Friday, Aug. 5, Friday, Sept. 9, and Friday, Oct. 14), where they will be exposed to Arizona export experts from diverse subject matter sectors, undergo practical training on key export topics and receive individualized export coaching. Entrepreneurs are innovators. They observe opportunity and gaps in the marketplace to create new goods and services. Entrepreneurs play a vital role in economic development as key contributors to technological innovation and new job growth. The spirit of collaboration and innovation is prevalent and these new business models are proving to be important engines for economic growth in the area. Realizing both the economic and social impact of entrepreneurship, many states and local communities, including those in the PHX East Valley, have implemented aggressive strategies aimed at cultivating and nurturing entrepreneurs.
